Greening the Conference
Conference Program
The 2017 Conference Program will be made available through a free mobile application compatible with all technological platforms as well as available in PDF for download. If you need a printed copy, a limited number will be available onsite for $15.00.  Further information about the program is available for download at: http://c2017.evaluationcanada.ca/program/
Conference Bag
In an effort to enhance the sustainability of the 2017 Conference we will be offering delegate bags for purchase.  These support a local organization called Common Thread.  Common Thread is a social enterprise that upcycles retired street banners into conference bags while providing a great work environment for its staff. The producers all live with mental health and other employment challenges and thrive in the flexible work environment, a bright and airy site in East Vancouver.

CES Carbon Offset Initiative:  Quadra Island Forestland Conservation Project

Quadra Island is an island off the eastern coast of Vancouver Island.  It serves as a popular destination for tourists and vacationers and substantial logging occurs on the island. The purpose of this project funded by carbon offsets is to meet two main objectives: reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) levels and conserve site-specific features. GHG levels were reduced by protecting 417.9 hectares of forestland previously slotted for conversion to vacation home development and continued logging activity. The specific site was chosen because it includes: Remnant Coastal Western Hemlock second growth forests; the opportunity to establish connectivity between existing parks—which allows its wildlife to move from one park to another safely; as well as important archaeological sites and a historic Aboriginal portage route.

Below are some options to assist you in offsetting your carbon footprint.  Carbon offsets for the Quadra Island Forestland Conservation Project are $22 per tonne.
Volunteer Opportunities
Would you like to volunteer at the conference?:
Buddy Program
  • The Buddy Program is an initiative developed to help first time conference attendees, particularly students, emerging evaluators and international delegates, to be more comfortable and well-oriented to the conference. They will be paired with a seasoned evaluator “buddy” during the conference to help them navigate the conference. Through this pairing, students, emerging evaluators and international delegates will gain a better understanding of evaluation practice by exchanging with an experienced peer and evaluator buddies will also learn through exchange.
  • Participants and buddies, who will be matched based on their interests and experiences, will meet virtually before the conference. At the start of the conference, they will have the opportunity to meet in person and plan to spend some time together during the conference (e.g. during networking breaks and lunch). The evaluator buddy will also assist the participant with any questions about the sessions and logistics during the conference.
